Coverys appoints David Hipkin as Non-Executive Director

London - September 18, 2019 - Coverys Managing Agency Limited, the Lloyd’s managing agent of Syndicates 1975, 1991 and 3330, today announced the appointment of David Hipkin as a Non-Executive Director to its board, subject to regulatory approval.  

Hipkin brings nearly four decades of senior underwriting and management experience in the Lloyd’s market to Coverys. He began his career as a broker at CT Bowring & Co, before joining I C Agnew Underwriting Ltd in 1986. Following the sale of Agnew to Wellington Underwriting Plc in 1991, he was appointed Casualty Underwriter at Syndicate 672 where he managed a highly profitable book of marine, energy and construction related business. In 1999 he joined Atrium Underwriting’s Syndicate 609 and was instrumental in its exceptional growth from 2002 onwards. He served as an Executive Director of Atrium’s managing agency from 2001 to 2005.

In 2005, Hipkin joined Arch Insurance Company (Europe) Ltd and in 2008 was appointed as Chief Underwriting Officer of their combined Lloyd’s and Company market operations. In this role he led a team of over 50 underwriters producing US $500M of annual GWP spread across 15 separate classes of business. He retired from Arch in 2016 and now serves as a consultant to a number of businesses in the London market.
