- Coverys, a leading provider of medical professional liability insurance and related services, announced a $5,400 grant by the Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation to OhioHealth O’Bleness in Athens, Ohio. The grant will fund efforts aimed at decreasing the occurrence of adverse drug events and, in addition, tools for preventing prescription drug abuse.
OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital provides southeastern Ohio with excellence in healthcare services. Their medical staff includes specialists who offer a wide range of surgical procedures, treatment options and therapies. They have deep roots in the community and are committed to meeting the needs of its diverse population.
The hospital will use the grant to further its patient safety initiatives related to prevention of adverse drug events and associated hospital readmissions through enhanced medication reconciliation processes. The current process for distributing medication relies on patient interviews for up-to-date information. With the enhancements, providers will have access to accurate, timely information in a simple format for all admitted patients.
“OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital continues to further their dedication of meeting the needs of the community,” said Gregg L. Hanson, CEO and president of Coverys. “With this grant, the Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation will assist O’Bleness to implement improved processes that will directly benefit improved patient safety.”
“The grant will be used to fund our Medication Reconciliation Program, a program designed to improve patient care and lead to a more efficient medication reconciliation process for staff,” said Mark Seckinger, president of OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital.
